If leading were easy

Yesterday was the first day using the iPad instead of the MacBook, and or iPhone to blog. This image is an experiment using iCloud files to search for documents, images, files.

If leading were easy, we’d all be doing it.

The quote above is a BFO, a blinding flash of the obvious.

However…

To know is to do.

To know and not do is to not yet know.

Is Love all we need?

Miami Art district.

Treat yourself right.

Joel Strack (RIP), Disney Institute colleague

This past year several (when it rains it pours) unexpected challenges appeared.

Identity theft.

Emergency eye surgery (twice).

Website backend access issues with WordPress.

Then there are the day to day challenges that happen to everyone. Homeowner issues. World events. Etc.

And, forfeiting three months in Glacier. It would have been a four-month season this year. With 80% of it with Cheryl.

Not even gonna mention it’s been 100 days since i’ve been able to exercise. A side effect from eye surgeries. It kills me to be a full-time couch potato, with no end in sight.

It would be easy to cave, to crumble under the pressure to logically explain to myself how i got here.

And, how will i possibly recover?

Gratitude.

Forgiveness.

Surrender.

Faith.

Hope.

Love.

Being an example, not a warning.

Vision is seeing a future not only better than now, but much better than now.

The quality of your life is from the quality of your contribution to society.

If you are a stay-at-home mom (or dad), your contribution is to your partner, and child(ren).

The quality of their lives ripple out in a similar fashion as the ripples you sent to them.

Disney trains onstage behaviors

Disney Keynote Speaker Jeff Noel
Santiago, Chile.

Disney’s onstage concept is transferable to real life.

dad

Disney taught me on day one that onstage behavior has to look like you are 100% invested in being right there in that moment.

As if there’s no other place you’d rather be right now than helping the Guest in front of you.

This is an easy standard to deliver on all-day, every day.

Yes and, there’s an exception to everything (except death and taxes).

The exception happens when you are being overwhelmingly challenged to stay in character and play the part of a world-class Disney Cast Member.

The challenges a Cast Member encounters are unlimited.

Spent 30 years excelling at staying in character and playing the part. It was easy for me. Like breathing. No effort whatsoever.

Only three times in 30 years did i have to ask a Guest to check out of my Resort and vacate WDW Property.

So now, with GoDaddy, it’s like riding a bike.

i remain patient (and peaceful) for an unencumbered resolution.

And, i look forward to being wrong about the fishy smell.

Remarkable migration

Your major motivation strategy is to be proactive, not reactive.

dad

Make mistakes in life.

Then learn to make fewer mistakes.

Apply what you learn, at scale.
