7 Work Questions

Thick conference workbooks can be transformational, or forgotten.

Disney Customer Service Keynote Speaker.

Seven work questions.

Do you want what i offer, what i solve for?

(i think everyone wants it, but no one knows it yet, and maybe never)

Consider your immediate answer to seven simple Customer Service leadership questions:

  1. What is the supreme goal?
  2. What are the free, unlimited (and fun) tools to achieve that goal?
  3. What’s the compelling reason for every employee to do it?
  4. What happens when you know all three answers?
  5. What happens when you don’t know all three answers?
  6. What happens when everyone knows all three answers?
  7. What happens when no one knows all three answers?

Bonus notes:

  1. Question 1 is strategy.
  2. Question 2 is tactics.
  3. Question 3 is why you exist.
  4. Question 4 is individual perfection.
  5. Question 5 is an individual nightmare (curse?).
  6. Question 6 is organizational perfection.
  7. Question 7 is an organizational nightmare (curse?).

Nursing Home stuff, work

Disneyland to Paris
See you real soon is funny when you think of death. A decade or more seems like a lot. In the infinite Universe, it’s absolutely nothing.
Disneyland Paris
The fact the such a thing as a reflection exists is a gift from our Universe. So is our life.
8-second video: Without Cheryl, a grilled cheese sandwich and a can of soup is an easily-prepared dinner. Chapin is working at Disney, so it’s just me.

Life is a gift.

Death is a gift.

The first one is easy to agree with.

The second, not so much.

As CEO of You, Inc — figure out what you believe and why. Then deliver on that to your greatest potential.

Journaling is career medicine

First ever spa facial. Immediately after, we drove to the podiatrist.
20-second video: Work karma. Hours ago, today, a CEO told me her organization’s new purpose is ‘to inspire’. Known her for over a decade. She’s never mentioned this. And to randomly see it in a Podiatrist’s exam room is freaky accidental coincidental.

Journaling is career medicine. You are the…

CCO: Chief Career Officer.

Told our son last week that mom and i have two Disney characteristics:

  1. We bought into Disney culture – hook, line, and sinker. We drank the Kool-Aid.
  2. We are both “goody-two-shoes“.

Writing about universal career priorities, your personal career, and your vision for the future is great medicine.

Why?

You get to search for questions no one’s ever asked. And when you find them, you get to think about your answer while simultaneously wondering why no one’s ever asked this before. Then you get to write your answer, as well as the context and backstory for the question’s origin story.

This is deep medicine. Tackling challenges and opportunities like a miracle drug.

Yesterday, spirit

There’s one important thing i remember saying to Rick yesterday in his driveway before driving home…

The goal in 2026 is to stop working — officially retire.

Why?

So i can wake up daily with no accountability or responsibility to anyone sending me money.

And then in this ‘new-life’ space, i can wake up and ask, “What do we want to do today?”

And then go do it.

Note: Whatever we decide to do might last longer than a day. Perhaps lasting multiple days away from home. And, we might ask the question differently, “What to we want to do tomorrow (or next week)?”

Where do great ideas come from?

mountains and lake
You don’t need to summit a mountain to find a great idea.

Great ideas can, and should, come from anywhere.

The brand new employee.

The 30-year employee.

The executive.

The janitor.

The customer.

A movie.

A setback.

Your competition.

Anyone in any industry.

While walking during a vacation.

While paying attention to details you used to under-focus on or ignore.
