You won’t believe

You won’t believe what you can do.

1990’s Disney Institute tagline

No one will believe it if you don’t.

Simplicity is operational genius.

You’re only as good as your organization’s ability to habitually remember and deliver your operational priorities, in priority order.

Work vibrancy fanatic

Disney Keynote Speaker, Jeff Noel
Snapped this photo last night to make sure my hair didn’t look ridiculous (lol). Worked in the yard all day and cooled off by jumping in the pool. i can go days without wearing a shirt and sometimes without looking in the mirror either. Ps. Wearing a shirt because we had friends join us for dinner.

A vision is lofty, hard to articulate (you may never say it the same way twice), and probably impossible.

dad

Visionaries sound crazy because the future they see is so much better than now that no one can envision such a glorious outcome. If it were possible, it would be so by now.

They’ll make it worse

Disney social media post
Photo 2024: From an unknown Cast Member’s social media channel. The top image is a Magic Kingdom Custodial Department conference room. The Walt Disney quote on the wall is below.

If you keep a place clean, people will respect it. If you let it get dirty, they’ll make it worse.

Walt Disney

Worked in Magic Kingdom Custodial a decade ago. Spent time in the meeting room and even captured photos of Walt’s quote with and without Cast Members in the room. Organic, employee-driven social media frightened organizations in 2013. And in 2013, had already been prolifically blogging for five years. The business world wasn’t ready for photos like the two above. It was a lonely time for a content-creator like me. And then came the moment when i accepted reality and surrendered to our slow adaptation/adoption to social media.

No one can do all this, right?

Insert your name in every blacked out space and how does this sound to you?

Jeff, not everyone on the Disney Institute Executive team likes you. When we’re in meetings, zip it.

Wayne Gagne, Disney Institute Operations Leader

Wayne changed the trajectory of the second half of my 15-year Disney Institute speaking career. When he shared this one-on-one feedback, i was a 24-year Disney leadership veteran. Nothing i did 24 years into my career was neophyte thinking.

Insight: striving for perfection, with the reality that excellence is the best you can do, you forget that perfection is not everyone else’s goal.
