Do work that matters.
Or not.

Many of you are waiting for the economy to pick up, before you’re willing to work harder and more creatively than in your entire life. Meanwhile, you complain about your situation.
We’re human. These things happen. But why?
Work with me here. When I’m at the track doing speed work and it’s a windy day, I insist on running into the wind. My times will be slower which isn’t as motivating as seeing the wind-aided times.
When doing road work, every time there’s a hill, I run faster up the hill than down. At the gym, no runner works harder on their core than me.
Why? Because the long way is the short cut.
When race day comes, guess who’s the most prepared?

Imagine if (random number) half your staff had blogs. And they wrote about how your company helps people.
Imagine the people you select to blog, like this. They are smart, professional people. You already trust them to remain compliant with all your organization’s policies, while interacting with your customers on the phone, and face to face.
Imagine no rules are broken and no lines are crossed – the same way you currently assume your people are behaving in front of your customers.
Is this easy or difficult to imagine?

“Social media in all forms are becoming the dominant form of interaction on the Net, whether blogging, Twittering, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. Six Pixels of Separation clearly describes this new family of media, offering realistic ways to get involved and productive in a hurry.” — Craig Newmark, founder of Craigs List
