Disney Institute program in 2012. Rural America in some small town. A Main Street ‘back-in-the-day’ theater was recently reinvented for events of all kinds.

What are some of your earliest blogging memories?

You know, after the Disney layoffs in 2008, i quickly saw the light in using personal blogging to help me build my ‘slow-and-steady’ Plan B.

An early memory that’s easy to forget or discount is how i discovered an Orlando WordPress meetup group.

Their target audience was website developers and website designers.

i was there simply to understand how blogging worked. What common mistakes to avoid. What easy best practices are must-dos? Etc.

Disney Customer Service Speakers — We all had a Disney Institute flag. The goal was to take photos of our world travels. In this case the photo doesn’t share our location. Location is University of Iowa Memorial Hall.

What are some of your earliest blogging memories?

My original blogging idea started in 2007 because i thought Disney Institute (DI) Facilitators could each have a blog and share Disney Institute essence, content, offerings, etc, as we traveled the globe.

After months of a slow and personal campaign to gain DI peer and leadership buy-in, i failed, gave up, and accepted leadership’s digital fear.

But i did not abandon the idea.

In fact, i creatively grew it as a personal experiment.

My thinking was, let me be an early adaptor, get in the “blogging game” so to speak, and be ahead of the curve once blogging became corporately less fearful.

Never saw coming what was about to happen in 2008-2009.

Should we get sad at the reality of having to leave the water location?

Let me ask, “Do you?”

i do not.

i think it’s a mix for the human species.

Let’s say you live far from water. Your time and money limit your ability to travel. You may have incredible desire, but you cannot balance your desire with your discretionary time and your money.

If Disney Ran Your Life, i’d say the solutions are unlimited if you have a great imagination. And you should because you were born with one.

A birdbath.

A small fountain.

An aquarium.

A small Koi fish pond.

A screen saver with your favorite water feature.

A painting.

A hung photo.

A table top jig saw puzzle.

No limit, except your imagination. (which can be as big as an ocean)
