Never fear the truth

Icarus Deception excerpt
So?

Never fear the truth.

This is scary actually. At least where I roam our planet.

But the cool part?

The truth is nothing to fear.

Crazy wonderful paradox.

For crying out loud – read my lips – it’s the truth.

It’s real. It is what it is and there is no denying it.

To be big enough to stand in front of Goliath takes a faith, a confidence, a trust – you get to this place and you are golden.

As our patience grows in our impatient world, we become better leaders

Child's art poster celebrating diversity
Cultural or rank differences do not make us different

As our patience grows in our impatient world, we become better leaders.

In a world touting fierce, fiery, impatient leaders (think Hell’s Kitchen), we are perversely led to believe that this behavior is gutsy and commanding.

Commanding yes. Gutsy, no.

What’s gutsy is laying down our weapons (bossiness, position power, fear), and using love.

Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Teresa, The Dalai Lama.

We may never understand this.

Lack of understanding never diminishes it’s secret power.

The one thing that is shamefully rare in today’s competitive business world

Sara Bareilles’ new song Brave crossed Mid Life Celebration’s path on exactly the right day. Talk about timing.

Had an intense, and extraordinarily useful conversation from an unlikely source.

The topic yesterday was being brave.

My argument was that I was not being brave. But I argued I was, with humility as the first filter.

It dawned on me that humility is rare.

Shamefully rare.

And practicing the art of humility can stun people because they can’t even tell what it is.

This was an exciting discovery to realize how far I’ve come. Hope you are finding surprising and useful ways to gauge your progress.

Our search for self confidence is really half-hearted at best

Self confidence should never be considered bling

Our search for self confidence is really half-hearted at best.

If we really were compelled to be strongly confident, we’d keep moving forward the way a child is determined to learn how to walk.

But we are not hell-bent on walking as adults.

And so we give up the efforts, but not the wishing.

Wishing doesn’t accomplish anything.

We know this.

If we banked on trust, we should get a full refund

The Book, Assholes: A Theory
The author’s audacity is intriguing, which is exactly what Aaron wants

How ironic is it in a text book leadership world (we know) that honest, open communication is key to moving things forward faster.

But alas, we are too afraid. All of us.

There are precious few exceptions.

Cherish our relationships where trust is our most prized possession.

It’s rare. Special. Gold.
