Because the herd follows the same direction, we accept this

Motivational quote on living without regret
Who wants to be the richest person n the graveyard?

When we stop climbing to feed our need for self worth in title and pay, we start climbing to feed our need for authenticity and contribution.

Because the herd follows the same widely accepted, well worn direction, we accept this as normal and follow along.

That getting ahead requires us to be better than the others vying for the same position.

And the only way to stand out – to be selected – is to shine brighter than our peers.

This creates a prison cell for small, justifiable deceit to flourish in our soul.

And it insidiously compromises our authentic self.

We are have our brand (reputation) that everyone sees crystal clearly

Leaders, people are listening to everything we do:

What you do thunders so loudly, I can’t hear what you say. – unknown

Live life so that if someone says something bad about us, no one will believe it.

Impossible is for amateurs.

Go.

101 days later

Christmas evening 2012, 9:50pm…

A promise is a promise.

Overcoming adversity is overcoming adversity.

Ridiculous is the new remarkable.

Remarkable is when people make remarks, like I have been – since opening Seth Godin’s new 800+ page behemoth book, “This Might Work”.

It arrived from China a few weeks ago via Amazon. Didn’t open the box until three days ago.

Chapin and I gave it to Cheryl as a “fun-gift”, for no real reason than simply because it is such a ridiculous book.

Gigantic, 19+ pounds. Not for sale in stores nor online. Months ago I pre-ordered it, expecting it to arrive in March 3013.

Ha!

Today’s fourth post is from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International airport. Again, who cares? That’s one of the great things about being true to yourself, because you no longer have any unrealistic investment in your actions.

You do what you do because it brings you joy. And because you’ve learned pretending to be someone or something your not, isn’t joyful energy.

Blind-sided by the nicest thing that could ever happen?

Blind-sided by the nicest thing that could ever happen?

No, wasn’t told there is now a cure for Crohn’s Disease. Nor that world hunger and injustice have been eradicated. Wasn’t promised world peace will be here by the weekend.

Something else happened yesterday. Something nice. Really nice. At work.

Will probably share the news in 100 days or so, I felt compelled to share this video (embedded in this morning’s Seth Godin email). What we can all derive great pleasure from is the fact that excitement and hope for the future is alive and well.

And as Walt Disney has taught me, “Keep moving forward”.

This is today’s rare second post.

PS. Sooner or later, it becomes crystal clear. Life is not a dress rehearsal. Live like you mean it! Yesterday we said, “Tomorrow”.
