The culmination of 30+ years of service, a blue name tag. Never saw it coming.

 

Dear younger me,

You will be so glad you postponed your routine Thursday night partying at West Chester University by attending the 10pm meeting hosted by Disney College Recruiting.

You’ll receive a letter from Disney telling you you’ve been cast for a role in the show as an “Attractions Host”. Trust me, driving a boat on a track in 10-minute repetitive loops while reciting corny jokes will change your life forever.

PS. The 100% polyester costume and straw hat will seem weirdly cool (at first). But it’s your Disney name tag that will really be your superpower. Enjoy what will turn into a 30-year road trip.

The work day begins the night before. i love being ready to go. Alive, excited, grateful.

Dear Yesterday,

You are my best teacher.

Every morning begins reflecting on what i learned yesterday (that’s you), what i get to do today, and what i hope for tomorrow.

The work experience you faithfully provide, the mentors, the mentees, the opportunities, the occasional heartbreaks, and the global exposure, these only scratch the surface in shaping the leader i am today – and the leader i desire to become before my 60th birthday.

Each morning i spend a third of my day thinking about you, a third thinking about Today, and a third thinking about Tomorrow.

Fair enough?

There are still many business models that have stood the test of time.

As time passes, they too shall become vulnerable, and then ripe, for reexamination.

Who says when and where and how often you can travel to conduct your entrepreneurial business?

Wouldn’t it seem it’s up to the CEO?

And isn’t creativity the DNA of every great organization?

Saying, and believing it is one thing; however, doing it is for outliers.
